    Effective PPE Policy
    Advanced Safety Documents, Murray Whitby

It is important that your PPE policy is correct and complete.

Your PPE policy should include a valid definition of PPE, which is "the items worn on the body to protect workers from health and safety hazards".

The policy should direct workers to: (a) wear all required PPE for the tasks at hand and wear it correctly; (b) inspect PPE before each use; (c) replace PPE that no longer meets its protective standards; and (d) stop work in any situation where required PPE is not being worn, is being worn incorrectly, or is damaged.

Lastly, your PPE policy should articulate your organization’s commitment to using PPE as part of its overarching hazard control strategy.
