New and young workers are more likely to be injured at work than the general workforce. They are also more susceptible to harassment.

The source of harassment can be co-workers, supervisors, customers, vendors, and contractors. The types of harassment includes, but is not limited to pulling pranks, teasing, ostracizing, gaslighting, undesirable or unfair task assignments, physical violence, and sexual harassment.

Here are three things you can do to protect the new and young workers in your company:

    • 1. If you don’t have an integrated workplace harassment and violence prevention program, get one.

    • 2. Include harassment and violence training in the orientation you provide your new, young workers.

    • 3. Provide that same training to all employees, as a refresher.

Take the proactive steps required to protect your company and all the young people who work in it.
